Social media has fundamentally changed the way we get the news and tell our stories. And good or bad, it has become a news source for over 50% of Americans. According to Pew Research 68% of the people polled get news on social media.

The Good

Here is an interesting article shared on Twitter that is a perfect illustration of how information is being shared on social media. Ben Thompson runs Stratechery.com and has been earning a living from his articles since 2013.

The Bad

Here is a tweet from PipFeed promoting their blog that primarily focuses on social media marketing. The blog is great and this article talks briefly about social media as a news source.

The Opinionated

And here is a great example of how anyone can write their own story from their own perspective and disseminate it using social media.

In conclusion, social media is an incredibly powerful tool for us to share our stories, give our opinions and publish our research. With roughly 70% of Americans utilizing social media as a source for news, we have all become social media journalists telling our stories, providing insights and sharing our opinions. We may not always agree with each other but social media is a great place to learn, interact and share.
